Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Current Oregon Acupuncture License: Valid and in good standing.

  • Malpractice Insurance: Proof of malpractice insurance upon hire.

  • Educational Background: Completion of an accredited acupuncture program with a Master’s or Doctorate in Acupuncture or Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred, but open to skilled individuals with less experience.

  • Proficiency in Pulse and Tongue Diagnosis: Ability to assess and interpret pulse and tongue presentations to guide accurate Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnoses and treatment plans.

  • Expertise in Meridian Systems: In-depth understanding of the body’s meridian pathways and the ability to identify and address blockages or imbalances.

  • Mastery of Needling Techniques: Skilled in various needling methods, including shallow, deep, and specialized techniques, with a focus on patient comfort and safety.

  • Experience with Adjunct Modalities: Competence in using complementary techniques such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, or electro-acupuncture to enhance treatment outcomes.

  • Herbal Medicine Knowledge: Familiarity with Chinese herbal formulas and their integration into holistic care plans, tailoring recommendations to individual patient needs. Preferred, but not required.

  • Client Rapport: Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with a diverse array of patients.

  • Treatment Planning: Skilled in creating and implementing personalized treatment plans.

  • Collaboration: Comfortable working in an integrative clinic environment with other healthcare professionals.

  • Anatomy Knowledge: Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and musculoskeletal systems.

  • Charting and Documentation: Familiarity with SOAP notes and medical charting best practices.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for both clients and colleagues.

  • Time Management: Ability to maintain punctuality and adhere to scheduled appointment times.

  • Business Acumen: Understanding of billing procedures and insurance protocols (training provided if needed).

  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to clinic policies, procedures, and varying client needs.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, move, and perform treatments for several hours per shift.

  • Computer & Software Skills: Familiarity with scheduling and medical records software or willingness to learn.

  • Ethical Practice: Adherence to professional ethical standards and clinic policies.
