In loving Memory of Pip
Pip was a gentle and sweet soul, forever a shining light.
Pip had a big heart, figuratively and literally. Several years ago, he was diagnosed with a terminal heart condition that causes enlargement of the heart. Thankfully, we were able to keep him happy and healthy for years until he crossed the rainbow bridge on May 16th, 2026. His passing was peaceful and pain free.
The night before, his breathing was labored, and while he was being monitored, he received lots of cuddles, snuggles, pets, kisses, and constant reminders that he was a very loved and such a good boy. I’m grateful we were able to spend that time together before going to the hospital. It was a deeply loving goodbye.
Pip came into my life three years ago after adopting him from a shelter on the coast. Although I thought we would have more time together, I wouldn’t trade the time we did have for anything. He came with an adorable face and a sweet soul; his second chapter was one that he truly deserved because he was such a gentle being meant to be loved and cherished - and he was. Nothing made him happier than loving and being loved by the many people he met both inside and outside of the clinic, where he was doted on and received endless pets and cuddles.
Sweet Pip will be missed dearly.
Pip did not like water, but he liked to chase. I took him to Sauvies and tried to play with him in the water and he became very grumpy about getting wet. We decided relaxing in the beach tent was a better idea. Then Pip saw a runner minding their own business. Pip did not like people to leave. He chased the runner all the way down the beach trying to trip him up until the runner was doing hopscotch around Pip.
Pip was a healthy eater. I could rarely find dog food that he liked. We were constantly at the pet food store returning food and getting new food to try. He would sniff the food and turn his nose up. He didn’t even care for chew toys. Maybe it was because he was missing half his teeth? I resorted to cooking food for him at one point. Then he surprised me. He loved broccoli, cauliflower, and edamame.
Pip was a little sweetie, but all terror when it came to chasing squirrels. One day as we were coming up the walkway a squirrel jumped to clear the sidewalk to his tree. Pip saw him exactly at that moment and jumped to get the squirrel. The squirrel and Pip hit midair and bounced off of each other. It was the closest Pip ever came to catching a squirrel.
Pip had grooming trauma. When I first got him we got fired by a groomer. They said he was an aggressive biter and I couldn’t even fathom. So, I tried to groom him with a friend. Poor little guy was so scared it took two hours of stress and tears to try and trim him up. Finally, I said forget it - I would figure something else out. It was too heartbreaking. He was mostly shaved (horribly) except his feet and chest. He looked like Burt reynolds with his bushy chest. I decided to just get a shirt to cover him until i could figure something else out. we went to the pet store. and, it happened to be halloween season. And after that he looked much more like a dinosour than a dog.
Pip was running a tight ship and chose his routine at the clinic. He was the one that decided to stay in the room with folks after the treatment finished. Everytime I left the room he watched with ample time to follow me. Instead, he chose to appear impatient so people would get ready quickly. I imagine he wanted people to hurry up so he could get pets.
Pip was such a good boy he never chewed on things or or destroyed anything. I was always secretly proud of him when he did something naughty. The naughtiest he
